The Maine Assistance Program for Lawyers & Judges will be offering QPR Gatekeeper suicide prevention training

"Question, Persuade and Refer"
April 8th at 12:15-1:30 in Room 117
The training will cover suicide awareness, recognition of the signs that an individual might be at risk of suicide, and intervention techniques to persuade the individual to accept professional help. It is a well regarded suicide prevention system that is similar to CPR in that it's purpose is to train laypeople in a technique intended to assist someone in crisis until professional help is obtained. Most acute suicidal impulses last for only a few days. QPR techniques are designed to interrupt that impulse and convince the suicidal individual to get the professional treatment he or she needs.

This event is coordinated through the SBA in collaboration  with MAP and students looking to address and increase awareness of mental health and wellness among our student body.
