Upcoming Student Group Events at Maine Law for the Week of November 7th


Tickets for the SBA Holiday Party on Sale All Week During the Lunch Hour

Ready for classes to be over? Looking for a night out on the town? Get ready to dress to the nines with this year's Holiday Party! On November 18, beginning at 8pm, the Maine Law Student Bar Association will be hosting the 2011 Holiday Party. This year's venue will be at the Portland Company, 58 Fore Street Portland. Great ready for a fabulous evening of dining and dancing. This year's ticket price is $5, which includes a fabulous venue overlooking Casco Bay, a selection of seasonally-inspired hors d'oeuvres by "Call Me Ishmael," AND an array of local beers and wine with service. Tickets will go on sale Monday, November 7* and will be available at lunch through Friday, November 18. Maine Trial Lawyers Association Meeting
Tuesday, November 8 at Noon in the Berman Lounge

Maine Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA) shall hold a members meeting Tuesday 11/8 at 12 noon in the Berman Lounge to discuss club goals, events for the rest of the year, and general administrative concerns. Please come to learn more about the organization and ways to get involved!


Environmental Law Speaker
Wednesday, November 9th, at 12:15 in the Middle Classroom

Sean Mahoney, vice-president of Maine's Conservation Law Foundation (CLF), will be giving a presentation on Wednesday, November 9th, at 12:15 in the middle classroom. Mr. Mahoney will be discussing legal careers in environmental law, as well as highlighting some of CLF's local initiatives. Lunch will be provided.



Maine Law Veterans Night Out at the Portland PiratesSaturday November 12th
In celebration of Veterans Day, the Portland Pirates organization is providing FREE tickets for all Veterans attending Maine Law, students and faculty.  Each veteran can claim their 2 tickets to the game on Saturday November 12th by emailing Neil Riley, neil.riley@maine.edu. For those with family, please indicate that you would like more than 2 and arrangements can be made in advance.  If you are a military spouse or dependent, please email Neil and arrangements can also be made in advance.

Port City Music Hall will host the First Annual Maine Striper Sessions - a unique benefit concert featuring two national artists with strong ties to Maine – The Jason Spooner Band and the Pete Kilpatrick Band.  For the first time ever, both bands will take the stage at Port City  – all proceeds from the concert will benefit the Maine’s Coastal Conservation Association, or “CCA”, which is the only grassroots volunteer and nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving Maine’s saltwater sport fishing and marine resources.  The Maine Striper Sessions is brought to you by The Bank of Maine; other organizations supporting this unique event are Taylor, McCormack & Frame; MacDonald Page; HM Payson; and the Boulos Company.

LGBT Caucus will be hosting Zach Heiden
Monday, November 21 at Noon in the Moot Court Room

As part of the commemoration of Transgender Remembrance Day on November 20, the LGBT Caucus will be hosting Zach Heiden, Legal Director of the Maine Civil Liberties Union to give a guest lecture on the topic of transgender rights in Maine as well as in New England and the nation as a whole. It will be on the Moot Court Room at noon on Monday, November 21st. Lunch will be served.


Maine Law Students Needed For A Phonathon
Tuesday, November 22nd from 4:00-7:00PM
