Upcoming Student Group Events at Maine Law

Maine Law Students for Reproductive Justice (MLSRJ) Meeting
Monday, January 23rd at 12:10pm in Room 118
The Maine Law Students for Reproductive Justice (MLSRJ) will be holding our first meeting of the semester at the lunch hour in Room 118 on Monday, January 23rd.  We will be discussing upcoming events including the MLSRJ film series, international reproductive health webinar program, the Law Students for Reproductive Justice 2012 Regional Conference, and goals for the upcoming semester.  Lunch will be served; all are welcome to join and learn more about the organization.

Roe v. Wade Film Night with Planned Parenthood
Wednesday, January 25th at Planned Parenthood (443 Congress St, 3rd Floor, Portland)
Please Join the Maine Law Students for Reproductive Justice on January 25th for the Roe v. Wade Film Night!
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is celebrating the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade which ruled that a woman’s right to decide whether to continue her pregnancy was protected under the constitutional provisions of individual right to privacy.
We will be viewing MTV’s "No Easy Decision", a special episode of "16 and Pregnant" that follows one teen mom in her difficult and complex decision to choose to have an abortion. Discussion after the movie will include the impact of Roe on young people and current threats to women’s health in Maine and across the country.
Free refreshments and raffle donation that will benefit the Laura Fund.

MAPIL Meeting
 Tuesday, January 24th at 12:10pm in the Room 118 
MAPIL will be having its first meeting of the semester on Tuesday, January 24 at lunchtime in Room 118. We will be discussing the upcoming visit with Justice Levy, scheduling 1L elections, and the upcoming Spring Auction. This meeting is very important. We are looking for much needed 1L support for the upcoming auction. See you there!

Maine Association for Construction and Real Estate Law
Thursday, January 26th at 12:10 in the Berman Lounge 
We will be holding the first MACREL meeting of the semester on Thursday during the lunch hour. The purpose of the meeting is to brainstorm and start planning events for the semester. Maine State Bar Association - JAZZED FOR JUSTICE
Thursday, January 26th at 5:00pm at the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland.
The New Lawyers Section of the Maine State Bar Association has organized its second annual “JAZZED FOR JUSTICE” fundraiser for the Campaign for Justice. The event this year will take place on January 26, 2012 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland. Numerous items will be available for bidding during this silent auction and cocktail reception. Entertainment at this event will be provided by Justice Carl Bradford's jazz quartet, Port City 4.
If you are already attending the MSBA Annual Meeting, there is no additional fee required, nor RSVP– your meeting registration will include two drink tickets.

Friday, January 27th; 12:10pm to 1:10pm; Moot Court Room. Mike T. Bigos, attorney at Berman & Simmons, Governor of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA), demonstrates how to present evidence to a jury to win the case and to obtain damages for an injured client.

The 25th Annual Robert M. Cover Retreat

When: Friday, March 2 - Sunday, March 4, 2012 (first weekend of Spring Break)
Where: Sargent Center, Peterborough, NH
What: A gathering of public interest law students, practitioners and academics to network, learn and enjoy a weekend away from the law school environment
