Health Law Association
Wednesday, Feb 1st at 12:10 in Room 506
Health Law Association will be having its first meeting of the semester on Wednesday at 12:10 in room 506. We have several big events in the making - including a panel on the Affordable Care Act co-sponsored by Maine Medical and Consumers for Affordable Health Care - and would love new faces to help share ideas and plan. We'd love to see you there! As always, a healthy lunch will be provided.

The first ELS meeting of the semester will be held during lunch on Friday, February 3, in room 118.  We're going to cover exciting topics, such as potential speakers, elections, and Maine's renewable energy referendum. And there will be pizza.   

Maine Law Veteran Student Organization

SBA Presents: Sports Night Out!

Join the SBA as we support the Portland Pirates when they take on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, Feb. 3 @7pm. Beginning on Mon. Jan 30th, tickets will be on sale during lunch for $5.00. Only 50 tickets available! **Since all the seats are in the same location, tickets will be sold as though it's open seating**

The 25th Annual Robert M. Cover Retreat
When: Friday, March 2 - Sunday, March 4, 2012 (first weekend of Spring Break)
Where: Sargent Center, Peterborough, NH
What: A gathering of public interest law students, practitioners and academics to network, learn and enjoy a weekend away from the law school environment
Cost: $150 includes Retreat fees, lodging and all meals/food. (See email from Derek on 1/5/12 about possible reimbursement.)

Maine Law Students for Reproductive Justice (MLSRJ) Meeting
Monday, January 23rd at 12:10pm in Room 118
The Maine Law Students for Reproductive Justice (MLSRJ) will be holding our first meeting of the semester at the lunch hour in Room 118 on Monday, January 23rd.  We will be discussing upcoming events including the MLSRJ film series, international reproductive health webinar program, the Law Students for Reproductive Justice 2012 Regional Conference, and goals for the upcoming semester.  Lunch will be served; all are welcome to join and learn more about the organization.

Roe v. Wade Film Night with Planned Parenthood
Wednesday, January 25th at Planned Parenthood (443 Congress St, 3rd Floor, Portland)
Please Join the Maine Law Students for Reproductive Justice on January 25th for the Roe v. Wade Film Night!
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is celebrating the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade which ruled that a woman’s right to decide whether to continue her pregnancy was protected under the constitutional provisions of individual right to privacy.
We will be viewing MTV’s "No Easy Decision", a special episode of "16 and Pregnant" that follows one teen mom in her difficult and complex decision to choose to have an abortion. Discussion after the movie will include the impact of Roe on young people and current threats to women’s health in Maine and across the country.
Free refreshments and raffle donation that will benefit the Laura Fund.

Maine State Bar Association - JAZZED FOR JUSTICE
Thursday, January 26th at 5:00pm at the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland.
The New Lawyers Section of the Maine State Bar Association has organized its second annual “JAZZED FOR JUSTICE” fundraiser for the Campaign for Justice. The event this year will take place on January 26, 2012 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland. Numerous items will be available for bidding during this silent auction and cocktail reception. Entertainment at this event will be provided by Justice Carl Bradford's jazz quartet, Port City 4.
If you are already attending the MSBA Annual Meeting, there is no additional fee required, nor RSVP– your meeting registration will include two drink tickets.
