LGBT Caucus
Monday, Feb 6th at noon in Room 117
The LGBT Caucus will be having its first meeting of the semester at noon on Monday, in Room 117. All are welcome and as usual pizza will be served.

International Law Society
Monday, Feb 6th
International Law Society will be holding their first meeting of the semester @ 6:00 pm on Monday, Feb 6. We will be planning out our event schedule for the semester, so please join us to add your input or just to see what's coming down the road.

MAPIL presents Justice John Levy on February 8!
Wednesday, Feb 8th in the Moot Court Room
On Wednesday, February 8, Justice John Levy of the Maine Supreme Court will be visiting Maine Law to give a presentation on public interest law. The presentation will be during lunch in the Moot Court Room. The theme of his talk will be "Doing Well and Doing Good," which will cover how to have a successful career in public interest law. He will covering his own past experiences as well as speaking about the importance of public interest law and the new Katahdin Counsel Recognition Program. This is a unique and valuable opportunity to learn from a successful judge and lawyer. Please bring any questions and an enthusiastic attitude. Let's have a strong showing to support Justice Levy. Lunch will also be provided.

MLSRJ, hosting Abortion Laws in Law and Practice: A Live Webinar Featuring the World’s Abortion Laws Map
Tuesday, February 7, 2012, 7pm in the Moot Court Room
Please join us for an interactive webinar with the Center for Reproductive Rights to learn more about movements for global law reform, and the Center’s work in securing women’s access to safe abortion services in both law and practice, straight from the attorneys working on the cases.
     This webinar will highlight recent trends and cases and will also introduce the new interactive component of The World's Abortion Laws map, which makes the abortion laws of key countries easily accessible online. The map also provides links to helpful advocacy tools for abortion law reform and links to more information on the Center's work around the world.

MTLA Lunch & Learn: Effective Openings & Settlement Negotiations. Gary Goldberg, partner at Garmey & Associates, discusses how to give an effective opening and how to negotiate a favorable settlement for your client. Gary has tried cases for both defense and plaintiffs' bar, teaches a certified CLE course on Trial Skills, and provides mediation services all around the state of Maine.

The 25th Annual Robert M. Cover Retreat
When: Friday, March 2 - Sunday, March 4, 2012 (first weekend of Spring Break)
Where: Sargent Center, Peterborough, NH
What: A gathering of public interest law students, practitioners and academics to network, learn and enjoy a weekend away from the law school environment

Intervarsity
Intervarsity Christian Graduate Student Fellowship gathering this Thursday, Feb. 9th, at Wishcamper 205 at 7pm.  Soup and Dessert will be served.  Professor David VanderLinden from the School of Business and Professor Michelle Neujahr from SMCC will be speaking on:  "Living Your Faith in the workplace."  All graduate law students are welcome!
